Knossos

At the site of Knossos is an ancient Minoan palace that was excavated and interpreted by Arthur Evans starting in 1900. His treatment of the site is controversial for his inaccurate reconstruction of the site and contested conclusions about the culture it represents. Still, it is a fascinating site with amazing finds.

Akrotiri

Akrotiri is the Late Cycladic site preserved in much the same way as Pompeii being destroyed by volcanic activity. Visitors are invited to walk through the site under a bio-dome that protects the find from the elements.
